CSU AI Assessment Agents
Practical AI support for program-level assessment work
CSU’s AI Assessment Agents are a growing set of purpose-built AI assistants designed to support faculty and program leaders through specific stages of program assessment, from drafting outcomes to building curriculum maps and beyond. Each agent is scoped to a single task, grounded in CSU’s assessment guidelines, and built to act as a thought partner rather than an authority: they ask questions, show their reasoning, flag their own uncertainty, and defer to faculty expertise. None of them approve, certify, or finalize anything — that stays with your college or university’s formal review process.
All agents run inside NebulaOne, CSU’s generative AI platform (built on the Azure OpenAI stack), so your data stays within the university’s Azure tenant and access is tied to your CSU NetID.
Available Agents
PLO Review Assistant
A thought partner for drafting and revising Program Learning Outcomes. Helps your program arrive at the formal approval process with a stronger, sharper draft — evaluating alignment, degree-level rigor, measurability, and distinctiveness.
Curriculum Mapping Assistant
A collegial guide for building program curriculum maps. Reads your syllabi and course descriptions alongside your PLOs to build a matrix showing where each outcome is introduced, practiced, and accomplished — and flags gaps as it goes.

Additional AI Assessment Agents are in development to support other stages of the program assessment cycle. Check back here as new tools are added, or contact CSU’s Director of Assessment, Dr. Stephanie Foster ([email protected]), with suggestions for future agents.
Before Using Any AI Agent
As with any AI tool, avoid pasting information you wouldn’t otherwise put in an internal CSU system, and don’t include sensitive student records (FERPA-protected data) unless you’ve confirmed that’s appropriate. For CSU’s full data governance guidelines, see CSU’s Responsible AI guidelines.
